Fruitpickers Prayer Guide, October 2022
“Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.” Joshua 22:5
My mum sent me a podcast a few days ago, and I listened to it last night while washing the dishes. It was about the findings from a survey of 35 Catalytic Movement leaders, people who had seen God unleash a movement of at least 100 groups with 1000 new believers to the third generation. This is our (Fruitpickers’) dream!
The survey’s intent was to find out if there was any correlation in the personality types of the different leaders. There were, in fact, many correlations, but there was one overarching, primary trait that ALL of the 35 Catalytic leaders had in common.
They all had a deep Hunger for God.
It may sound obvious – but how many of us (myself included) hunger for ministry, for fruitfulness, for new disciples, for the fruits of the Spirit, for apostolic success, let alone worldly things such as food, the praise of man, money…rather than the person of God Himself. The bible calls this idolatry! This analogous trait between these successful leaders speaks volumes! It’s as if the sovereign and all powerful God who we serve, who holds the world in his palm and who could unleash a movement in Australia in 3 seconds, just gives movement as a gift to his children who love him.
Pray for us, that we may love God more and more and more and more! That new labourer’s would be raised up who love God more than anything. That God would prune out the other loves – idols – in our lives, so we may ‘cling to him and serve him with all our heart and with all our soul.’
